Webinar - The New Shape of Computer Science CareersSeptember 22, 20267-8:15 p.m. EST
Hosted by the Department of Computer Science at Virginia Tech
Rather than viewing artificial intelligence as a threat to computer science, how is it actively transforming the way we work, think, and build?
Join CS@VT Department Head, Dr. Christine Julien, alongside a panel of featured alumni, faculty, and industry experts for a dynamic discussion on The New Shape of CS Careers. We’ll cut through the media noise and explore how AI tools are reshaping entry-level software engineering, why foundational systems thinking is more critical than ever, and how CS skills are expanding into every corner of the global economy.
Discussion Highlights:-AI as a Force Multiplier: Real-world examples of how engineers use AI daily to streamline workflows.-Skills That Last: Why fundamental computer science training ("productive literalism") remains irreplaceable.-Where Tech Meets Everything Else: The surge of CS careers in non-traditional tech sectors like health, finance, and public policy.
