Halloween Hokie Hike: Bald Knob and War Spur at Mountain Lake Conservancy

Join College of Natural Resources and Environment Geography Instructor Stewart Scales for two of the most popular hikes in the area! Hikers will learn about the history of Mountain Lake and local geology, landforms, and flora as they take in beautiful views of West Virginia and the New River Valley, as well as Virginia’s largest distribution of American Chestnuts. Hikers with travel about four miles total at the two locations, including a steep ascent of .4 miles. The hike will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with time built in for hikers to enjoy their own packed lunches.

There is no charge for attendance; however, we have provided an option to make a gift at checkout for those who would like to contribute. All gifts will benefit the Department of Geography Annual Fund.
