About IAWA:The IAWA was established in 1985 on the campus of Virginia Tech. The effort was spearheaded by faculty member, Bulgarian architect and historian, Dr. Milka T. Bliznakov (1927-2010). The archive has steadily grown its collections, representing 48 countries. It continues to collect and preserve women’s contributions to architecture and design from around the world. The IAWA international collections are preserved at the Carol M. Newman Library on the Virginia Tech campus.
The first woman graduated in 1969 from the Virginia Tech Architecture Program and thousands have graduated since. We look forward to meeting many of you.
