🧠 2026 Brain School: Genetics, Brain Disorders & the Future of Therapy
📅 Monday, March 9, 2026
💻 Zoom
⏰ 6 - 7:30 p.m. EDT
🏷️ There is no cost to join this event.

You may still be able to register to attend the virtual presentation of Brain School 2026. Please email Jennifer at jquam@vt.edu to inquire.

Whether you’re new to neuroscience or deeply curious about where the field is headed, this program offers a clear, accessible look at the genetics behind brain health—and what comes next. Join us for an engaging evening exploring how genetic mutations shape brain disorders—and how emerging cell and gene therapies may transform the future of neuroscience and medicine.

We will be joined by Dr. Michael Friedlander, Dr. Ryan Purcell, Dr. Anthony LaMantia, and Dr. Sharon Swanger, whom will:

- Introduce the basics of genetics and how mutations affect the brain.

- Highlight genetic drivers of conditions such as neuro-developmental disorders and epilepsy

- Explore the promise of gene and cell-based therapies in treating brain disease

- Connect cutting-edge science with real-world translational initiatives at FBRI, Carilion, and partner institutions

🔬 Though this event is free to attend, we have included the option to make a gift to the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at VTC. Thank you in advance for your support!
