Egger Celebration
November 14-15, 2024
Come home to Blacksburg for a celebration of the life and work of professor emeritus, Dayton Eugene “Gene” Egger.
Gene Egger was an architecture professor at Virginia Tech from 1969 – 2010 and influenced the talents of many students.
Ron Daniel, professor emeritus, said Egger was a “consummate mentor and a ‘teacher of teachers.’ Teaching here and abroad, Gene created a holistic weave of unforgettable moments of insight, snapshots of history, all the while blended with his sense of humanity and humor.”
This memorial event is sponsored by the School of Architecture - College of Architecture, Arts, and Design and includes a working symposium and reception on Thursday followed by an opportunity to interact with architecture students on Friday.
Space is limited. Please register by October 31, 2024.
In the spring semester, the School of Architecture will curate an exhibition of alumni work that speaks to their education with Gene Egger. All alumni attending this event, and those unable to attend, are invited to share a digital item, such as a photo, sketch, or written piece, with the exhibition. You will be contacted with more details.
In memory of Gene Egger, we have provided an opportunity to make a gift to the School of Architecture Annual Fund upon completion of registration.
