Roanoke, VA 24016 Join us for a 3-part workshop and community discussion series. Dr. Carlisle Shealy with Virginia Tech's Center for Gerontology, Tina King with the New River Valley Agency on Aging in Pulaski, Ron Boyd with the Local Office on Aging in Roanoke and Brian Jacks with AARP Virginia will guide participants on personal reflection, conversations with persons important to them, intentional planning and the development of action plans to help address successfully aging in place in one's own community. Topics include: Housing, Health & Wellness, Transportation, Personal Finance and Connection and Growth. Participants will also learn how to facilitate smaller, group discussions on these topics with friends and peers in their community setting.
Registration is $10 per person for each workshop and includes lunch, the Aging in Place workbook, and a $5 gift to Virginia Tech's Gerontology Annual Fund.
As each of the five focus areas are interconnected and contributes to the overall success with aging in place, attendance at all 3 workshops is encouraged.
